17.5. Air removal from brake system

GENERAL INFORMATION

Operation on air removal from brake system is carried out in all cases of hit of air to a hydraulic actuator. When falling level of brake liquid in a tank and air hit in system via the main cylinder or at a detachment of pipelines from the main cylinder air delete from all contours and hydraulic actuator pipelines. If only one bracket or the wheel cylinder was disconnected, removal of air is required to be made only from these cavities and the corresponding pipelines. At dismantle of any pipeline and the subsequent assembly it is necessary to remove air from a contour and the cylinder, which обслужива ются with this pipeline.

Before the beginning of operation to spend a reserve of the vacuum amplifier, having several times pressed and having released a brake pedal. The engine should be thus switched off.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To fill a tank with brake liquid. In the course of work it is necessary to watch that level of liquid did not decrease below a norm half.
2. If it is known that in the main cylinder there is an air, it is necessary to pump over first of all a cavity of the main cylinder as follows.
2а. To disconnect pipelines of forward brakes from the main cylinder.
2б. To wait, while liquid will fill the main brake cylinder and will start to follow from the union.
2в. To attach pipelines of forward brakes to the main cylinder. To tighten fastenings.
2г. Slowly to press a brake pedal once and to hold her in the pressed situation. To weaken fastening of the pipeline of a forward brake to the main cylinder and to let the air out from the cylinder. To tighten the union and then slowly to release a brake pedal. To wait for 15 seconds. To repeat similar actions, including and a 15-second pause, several times, while all air does not leave the main cylinder. Not to allow hit of brake liquid on the painted surfaces of the Body.
2д. After air removal from the main cylinder via unions of forward pipelines to repeat similar operations for air removal via back pipelines (see point 2г).
2е. If it is known that in cylinders of forward brackets or in back wheel cylinders air is absent, pumping of the corresponding contours can be not made.
3. Air removal from lobbies and back wheel cylinders is made only after pumping of the main brake cylinder.
3а. To put on a wrench the valve of production of air. To put on a valve head a tube which second end to ship in capacity with brake liquid.
3б. Slowly to press a brake pedal once and to hold her in the pressed situation. To turn on it is a little valve and to let the air out from the cylinder. To tighten the valve and then slowly to release a brake pedal. To wait for 15 seconds. To repeat similar actions, including and a 15-second pause, several times, while all air does not leave the wheel cylinder. It can be necessary to repeat this procedure of 10 times or more for complete removal of air. Fast pressing a brake pedal lead to moving of the secondary piston to the end of the main cylinder that complicates air removal from system.
4. Sequence of removal of air from system:
      – right back wheel cylinder;
      – left forward wheel cylinder;
      – left back wheel cylinder;
      – right forward wheel cylinder.
5. To merge cooling liquid (to remove the bottom hose of a radiator).


THE MECHANIZED REMOVAL OF AIR FROM BRAKE SYSTEM

Necessary adaptations:

– the device for air removal from a hydraulic actuator;
– adapter.

It is authorized to use devices for air removal only diafragmenny type which have a diaphragm dividing air both brake liquid and excluding hit of water, dirt, oils etc. in a brake hydraulic actuator.

To establish or attach
PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. An adapter on the main cylinder.
2. To charge a device receiver pressure of 140-172 kPas.
3. To attach the pipeline to an adapter and to open the pipeline valve.
4. To lift the car and to fix properly.
5. To put on a tube the valve of production of air and to lower the second end of a tube in the capacity which has been partially filled with pure brake liquid.
6. To open the valve of production of air on 1/2–3/4 turns and to let out liquid until together with liquid air vials will not cease to leave.
7. Sequence of removal of air from system:
      – right back wheel cylinder;
      – left forward wheel cylinder;
      – left back wheel cylinder,
      – right forward wheel cylinder.
8. To check a brake pedal on "elasticity". If the brake pedal considerably springs, to repeat operations on air removal from system.
